When the weather changes a mild sadness settles in. The crops are starting to get pulled out in the garden. Whatever is still growing is slowing to a snail’s pace. I need to layer inside of my apartment and we won’t even talk about the sun going down earlier. But then there are the other aspects of the seasons that I’m reminded of. We go more interior, both physically and mentally. We spend more time talking and listening instead of non-stop doing. Apples and gourds start flooding the fresh air markets and turning the oven on becomes a welcomed prospect. The sight of apples and gourds turned my mind to baking but I resisted the purchase since I knew I had some quickly browning bananas at home. This recipe is certainly a treat as butter and sugar are not shy participants. But make it with the best quality you can buy and share what you bake. I did and it was delicious.
